John Tavares had everything to do with a recent win over the Philadelphia Flyers that put them in the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference tied with their crosstown rival, New York Rangers. Even if it was temporary the placement was important because many pundits, not me, had counted them out already this season and the team’s offensive leader made sure in that game that his team remained in the hunt.

When talking about goaltenders that have won both the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s top goaltender and the Hart Trophy as the league’s most valuable player, two recent goaltenders that come to mind are Jacques Plante (Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins), Dominik Hasek (Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators) and Jose Theodore (Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild).
