Philadelphia -- When this got underway the Jets had some early jump and when forward Nik Anrtopov slickly played a puck off the back wall to the side of Ilya Bryzgalov; Evander Kane corralled the puck and flipped it high into the back of the net to give the Jets the 1-0 lead at 4:48 of the opening period.
Ron Hainsey and Scott Hartnell got testy after Hartnell was taken out by a hard check from Zach Bogosian. Hartnell looked pretty good out there but a little slow and behind the play a bit.

Philadelphia -- Now that Claude Giroux has been named Flyers captain. I thought it would be fun to look back at some fun moments in his career.
I’ve covered a lot of NHL drafts and the 2006 version was very memorable as it pertains to Flyers captain Claude Giroux. It was in Vancouver, and the Rangers drafted Bobby Sanguinetti with the 21st overall pick. Here is what I wrote about that moment:

The Philadelphia Flyers today named Claude Giroux the 19th captain in the franchise’s history, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. In addition, Holmgren announced that Kimmo Timonen will serve as associate captain, while Scott Hartnell and Danny Briere will serve as alternate captains.
