Albany, NY - Ryan Ginand’s goal and two assists helped the Albany Devils (31-37-1-4) defeat their archrival Adirondack Phantoms (26-37-4-6) by the score of 6-2. D-man Joe Sova also netted a key goal for the baby Devils, between these two they have a combined 6 games in the AHL.
They were not the only story as Albany featured three other scorers and a couple of fighters to help command them to a fairly easy win. At no point in the game did they seem in danger of giving up their lead.
Albany, NY - Chad Wiseman and his Albany Devils (25-34-1-3) mounted an improbable 5-4 comeback tonight over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (21-35-3-4) courtesy of the Left Winger’s suddenly hot hands. Just as the Sound Tigers felt comfortable with less than ten minutes remaining and a three goal lead, things fell apart and cost them the game.
Glens Falls, NY - The Western Conference Hamilton Bulldogs (12-3-1-3) and Eastern Conference Adirondack Phantoms (3-15-2-0) locked up in a fight filled and bad blooded contest that eventually led to a 3-2 loss for the struggling Phantoms (1-13-2 in their last 16 games).
Glens Falls, NY - In a penalty filled game that featured five power play goals the Rochester Americans (6-4-1-0) defeated the struggling Adirondack Phantoms (2-8-1-0) by the score of 5-3.
Team Canada Takes Skills Competition
Portland, ME - In snow covered Cumberland County Civic Center in Southern Maine Team Canada came out victorious for just the second time in the past seven years in the 2010 AHL All-Star Skills Competition. The feisty Canadians knocked off PlanetUSA by the score of 18-12 which was the identical score they lost by last year.
The competition was filled with standouts from both sides. PlanetUSA’s Bobby Sanguinetti (Hartford Wolf*Pack) set the record for the fastest skater by skating his lap in just 13.677 seconds! This helped PlanetUSA to an early lead after just two events, or “heats’ as they were referred to.
