Albany Newbies Help School Adirondack

Albany, NY - Ryan Ginand’s goal and two assists helped the Albany Devils (31-37-1-4) defeat their archrival Adirondack Phantoms (26-37-4-6) by the score of 6-2. D-man Joe Sova also netted a key goal for the baby Devils, between these two they have a combined 6 games in the AHL.

They were not the only story as Albany featured three other scorers and a couple of fighters to help command them to a fairly easy win. At no point in the game did they seem in danger of giving up their lead.

Hamilton Wins Shootout in Penalty-less Classic

Glens Falls, NY - It took sixty five minutes of hockey plus a shootout to decide the matchup between the Hamilton Bulldogs (26-13-1-4) and the Adirondack Phantoms (13-27-2-3), ultimately Hamilton won it 4-3. While it was a lengthy game it was a quick game, there was not a single penalty called on either team in regulation or overtime. Some wondered if referee Jeff Smith ever brought his whistle?

FLYERS NAME JOE PATERSON HEAD COACH OF ADIRONDACK PHANTOMS

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have named Joe Paterson the head coach of the Adirondack Phantoms, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. John Paddock, who had been serving as the interim head coach of the Phantoms since November 8, will return full-time to his duties as assistant general manager of the Flyers.

Hamel and the Phantoms Turn Down the Heat

Glens Falls, NY - For the first time this season the Adirondack Phantoms (6-23-2-0) have posted back to back wins. Thanks to some solid goaltending by Nic Riopel and a little luck they held on to defeat the Abbotsford Heat (16-14-1-3) by the score of 2-1.

Denis Hamel had his 299th and 300th AHL career goals last night as they were victorious over the Hershey Bears and tonight his 301st was the game-winner.

Glens Falls, NY - The Western Conference Hamilton Bulldogs (12-3-1-3) and Eastern Conference Adirondack Phantoms (3-15-2-0) locked up in a fight filled and bad blooded contest that eventually led to a 3-2 loss for the struggling Phantoms (1-13-2 in their last 16 games).

Glens Falls, NY - In a penalty filled game that featured five power play goals the Rochester Americans (6-4-1-0) defeated the struggling Adirondack Phantoms (2-8-1-0) by the score of 5-3.

Adirondack Turns it Around and Grabs it’s First “W”

Albany, NY - The Adirondack Phantoms (1-1-0-0) spoiled the Albany Devils (0-1-0-0) debut with an about-face offensive attack, lifting them to a 5-3 thriller at the Times Union Center. For the second straight night Phantoms goaltender Johan Backlund had to stand strong, but this time he had some goals to back up him up.
