Right now the Mets are playing hardball with R.A. Dickey. I understand he’s under contract next year for $5 million dollars and I understand they didn’t get the right trade offer but it got me thinking. How much money has Dickey made for the Mets lately?
David Letterman (65) did what Buster Posey couldn’t. Tony La Russa (67) is around Letterman’s age but he didn’t want to do it.
So the retired manager decided to throw him in the sixth when Carlos Ruiz stepped up to catch him. This video shows why Bud Selig doesn’t understand the pulse of the game anymore. The fans wanted to see the best, the different and instead he was practically excluded for it.
And then there was one. When Tim Wakefield stopped pitching at the age of 44, R.A. Dickey was the last knuckle ball pitcher left in the major leagues. He was the dodo bird, the one guy that fans could marvel at because he doesn’t know where the ball might land, or does he?
