In a defense rich draft one player who could sneak into the first round is Jordan Schmaltz who will attend the University of North Dakota this fall. As a kid growing up in Wisconsin he made headlines as a 14-year-old when he had a verbal commitment to go to the University of Wisconsin.

“I just kind of had a verbal commitment,” he said pointing out that a written commitment with a player that young is an NCAA violation. “One of the biggest reasons I did go was when assistant coach Mark Osiecki left for Ohio State. I wanted to take a different route.”
