Philadelphia -- When the Rangers waived veteran goaltender, Martin Biron, they opened the door for Cam Talbot to earn that spot and in his first NHL game he didn’t disappoint.
The rookie netminder stopped 25 of 27 shots in his NHL debut against the Philadelphia Flyers. It was a 2-1 loss but he was able to pull some positives out of it.
“I was looking forward to my first start and I thought I played pretty well for the most part and I think it will give me confidence moving forward,” said Talbot.
And so did his coach.

Philadelphia -- The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 last night. The game was close for roughly 2 1/2 periods. After that the Pittsburgh Penguins were just too much for the Flyers. What’s improved about the Penguins this year is their defense. Even with Kris Letang out of the mix with a knee injury rookie Olli Maatta played a very solid game.
“I felt good. Like I said before every game I've felt good, more comfortable, more confident. I think the whole team played well,” Maatta said.
