I did have some thoughts on the series so far:

What will the Flyers do?
1) Not sure if Michael Leighton will get the start on Sunday, he probably will, but this one is a real head scratcher and coach Peter Laviolette has a lot of thinking to do.

Hockey Canada has been waiting for this moment. Their entire country will be watching and the players know that. The players can feel that. Team USA has been happy go lucky the entire time. GM Brian Burke made sure of that from day one.

Team USA Scores Six First-Period Goals

VANCOUVER, B.C. - The U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team scored six first-period goals en route to a 6-1 win against Finland here today in the semifinal round of the XXI Olympic Winter Games. With the victory, the U.S. improved to 5-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) and advanced to the tournament's gold-medal game on Sunday (Feb. 28).

Team USA to Play in Semifinal Round Friday

VANCOUVER, B.C. - Zach Parise (Prior Lake, Minn./New Jersey Devils/Univ. of North Dakota) scored his first two goals of the tournament and Ryan Miller (East Lansing, Mich./Buffalo Sabres/Michigan State Univ.) turned aside all 19 shots faced as the U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team downed Switzerland, 2-0, here today in the quarterfinal round of the XXI Olympic Winter Games. With the victory, the U.S. improved to 4-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) and will play in the semifinal round Friday (Feb. 26).

Twelve Different Players Factor in Scoring for Team USA

VANCOUVER, B.C. - Twelve different players factored in the scoring for Team USA as the U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team downed Norway, 6-1, here today in its second game of the Olympic Winter Games. With the victory, the U.S. improved to 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) and will face Canada in its final preliminary-round game on Sunday (Feb. 21).

Three Different Players Score for Team USA

VANCOUVER, B.C. - David Backes (Blaine, Minn./St. Louis Blues/Minnesota State Univ.), Ryan Malone (Pittsburgh, Pa./Tampa Bay Lightning/St. Cloud State Univ.) and Bobby Ryan (Cherry Hill, N.J./Anaheim Ducks) each scored to pace the U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team to a 3-1 victory over Switzerland here today in its first game of the XXI Olympic Winter Games.

I started it off by covering the Flyers-Thrashers game. Jim Slater, an American, scored two goals to spearhead a 4-3 Atlanta comeback victory. Philadelphia has dominated Atlanta over the years to the tune of a 29-5-4 record against them. Atlanta rookie Evander Kane showed off the same form that he did in last year’s World Junior Championships, as he powered to the net and skated past Philly’s Chris Pronger to setup that last goal. That was a good start and then my mind wandered to the upcoming Olympics so I wanted to talk about the upcoming games in Vancouver.
