The Jets have a solid defense, good pass rush and Darrelle Revis is still their best player, however, the Jets lost to the Ravens because of bad play calling which is something that has been an issue for this franchise forever.
Here is a list of Jets mistakes that were glaring:
1) You can’t blitz on every third down and then leave a rookie as the lone player in the secondary.
2) You can’t run on every first and second down for a large part of the game and then try to infuse a passing game when the chips are down. The offense must be balanced.
3) The quarterback isn’t as safe and the holes in the line aren’t as big since the Jets let Alan Faneca go.
4) If the Jets offensive coordinator is afraid to call for anything more than a 10-yard pass how is the quarterback going to every feel in sync with the offense and that’s why he was checking down so soon. He lost his confidence.
To beat the Patriots they will have to throw the ball. They will dare the Jets to beat them through the air and now the Jets have to start using their targets and they must turn the page on the Dustin Keller non-first down grab, it was dumb, but it didn’t lose the game for them, they were sputtering way before that.
Dwight Lowery should be playing more in the secondary. He only had one tackle because he barely played. Rookie Kyle Wilson was exposed and he should be the sub, especially against a quarterback like Tom Brady.
The Jets wide outs barely saw the ball here were the results:
Jerricho Cotchery – 2 receptions 18 yards
Braylon Edwards - 1 reception 9 yards
Brad Smith – 0 catches and just two successful runs, he wasn’t utilized.
The coach, Rex Ryan, is a braggart and a blowhard and he needs to shut up and do his job instead of telling the world how great this team is when they are now 1-0. Hopefully he got some humility with this loss because if he didn’t the Patriots will eat the Jets alive in week two.
