TRAVIS ROY FOUNDATION TO HOST WIFFLE BALL TOURNAMENT
August 6-8, 2010 in Jericho, VT various wiffle ball teams will assemble to compete in the annual Travis Roy Wiffle Ball Tournament. Last year over $231,000 was raised for the Travis Roy Foundation. As you may remember back in October of 1995 Travis took his first shift with the Boston University ice hockey team and after 11 seconds found himself paralyzed from the waist down after crashing into the boards.
According to the foundation’s website, “The Travis Roy Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the life of spinal cord injured individuals and families by providing adaptive equipment and to finding a cure through increased funding of research, resulting in self-reliance and the ability to be as independent as possible.”
If you cannot attend this tournament or sponsor a team please feel free to make any type of donation, I believe their goal right now is to reach a million dollars. I’ve posted a couple of websites for pertinent information. By the way, the ballpark itself may be worth the trip as it has been modeled after Fenway Park therefore earning the title “Little Fenway.”
