Miami University Secures No. 1 Ranking in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Miami University, which collected two victories against Lake Superior State University last weekend, secures the No. 1 ranking in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll. The RedHawks, who improved to 20-4-6 on the season, collected 509 points and 33 of 34 first-place votes.

The University of Denver (478, one first-place vote), which defeated Mercyhurst College and the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the University of Wisconsin (441), which knocked off the University of Michigan, stay at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. St. Cloud State University (400) retains the No. 4 spot after garnering a 1-0-1 record against the University of Alaska Anchorage, while Bemidji State University (305), which was idle last weekend, moves up two spots to round out the top five.
No. 12 University of Maine (136) makes its 2009-10 poll debut this week. The Black Bears went 2-0-0 against then-No. 13 University of New Hampshire last weekend to enter the top 15.
Highlighting this upcoming weekend's games are three top-15 match-ups, including two games between No. 11 University of North Dakota and No. 4 St. Cloud State.
NOTES: The Western Collegiate Hockey Association boasts six ranked programs, including three in the top five. The Central Collegiate Hockey Association and Hockey East Association each have three ranked teams, while ECAC Hockey has two ranked programs. Bemidji State is the only ranked College Hockey America team ... A total of 20 teams received votes.
ABOUT THE POLL: The 15th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
