star wars in concert is the perfect family show

Philadelphia -- This show has all the elements of the perfect holiday show. Anthony Daniels, who was C3po, actually narrates the entire Star Wars story with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra out of London, England backing him up.

The show starts out with the orchestra playing the “THX” sound we all hear before a movie starts and then those magic words flash on the screen and the “Star Wars Theme Song” starts off the show. This show featured amazing laser lights, smoke and fire!

The show features some fun surprises and the three story tall LED screen makes this the official unveiling of Star Wars in “HD” and the music was in perfect sync with the clips, many were very rare. Those rare clips showed original sketches, the original John Williams scoring sessions (and he did rework some of the music for this show!), and behind the scenes shots.

Families filled the arena; no side or backstage seats were sold. Next to this massive screen on each side and above it was a lite-brite kind of screen that showed the movie clips and live shots of the concert. There was a 360-degree camera on a big boom that showed live orchestra shots and the experience was breathtaking.

Daniels acting was terrific and it showed off his years of stage work. Again this show was the perfect bedtime story that played at 6PM on a Sunday night. It ended just past 8 with one intermission and when it was over fans were overjoyed and gave a standing ovation for quite some time.

When fans entered the building they saw some Star Wars artifacts from the movies along with characters walking around and taking pictures with the fans. Upon leaving the building we saw more of the costumes and backdrops (photos by Sportsology) because they were widely scattered around the rink. On a side note the folks who worked the concession stand could have had a better attitude. They were borderline rude.

If you have a chance to see this show or the “Christmas Show” this is the one to see in my humble opinion.
