Andre The Hawk Dawson Gets His Hall Ticket Punched

This article won't talk about the others that were short changed. Instead it will talk about the man that was voted in, Andre "The Hawk" Dawson!

For years he was the face of the Expos franchise and that's why he was prominently mentioned in my upcoming book, "Strike Three", available on http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/strike-three---a-players-journey-t...

He was the ultimate five-tool player and his bat struck fear in opposing pitchers. He had eight all-star game appearances, eight gold glove awards, and he once took a contract of just $100,000 plus incentives while he was with the Cubs in 1987 (he ended up making only $700,000 that season). Today's players would never do that, especially with hardly any cartilage left in his knees, and magically he led the league with 49 homers and 137 RBI winning the NL MVP that season!

Under the old rules "The Hawk" would have gone in as a member of the Montreal Expos because he would have chosen that! Now "The Hall" will make the choice. The Expos franchise was decimated by the economics of the game and now they can get this final gift!

This former 11th round pick has now gotten the respect that he so richly deserved, he will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this coming July.
