A Hockey Movie -- Face Off Gets a Face Lift
This hockey love story, a Canadian film, was made over 40 years ago and now it’s back on Blu-Ray (and a standard copy) thanks to VSC.
The music was consistent with the era (although too folksy for me) and the cars and hockey equipment; haircuts (Bobby Sherman-esque) are all fun to see. I was a youngster when this was released and it gave me some fun flashbacks.
Some of it was predictable but I give the original producer John F. Bassett and director George McCowan credit for developing a backdrop for a movie that had a lot of hockey stars and making it a story of sorts.
Warrior Sets The Bar High For The Future of Sports Movies
Sports movies are very hit and miss. Hollywood knows that and that’s why you don’t see a plethora of them in any given year. When a sports movie is right, and it’s authentic and hits on all cylinders it’s like poetry in motion.
Gavin O’Connor of “Pride and Glory” fame was the director and one of the writers of this unique screenplay. Back in the day there were quite a few “classic” boxing movies but now that sport has been eclipsed by MMA (mixed martial arts) and the league UFC in particular, and that is the backdrop for this gem.
Septien Has An Interesting Message
“Septien” a movie written and directed by Michael Tully had a world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and it’s very well acted. It’s a cerebral sports movie for sure, and while it has some laughs it can be pretty dark dealing with some serious issues.
tiffani theissen loves her new role
Tiffani Theissen will always be remembered for her roles on “Saved By the Bell” and “Beverly Hills 90210” but now she is playing a role that she absolutely loves. She is Elizabeth Burke, and her new show is the USA hit White Collar, which airs every Friday at 10/9C.
burn notice is as hot as ever
"Burn Notice"” is getting ready to show their mid-season finale tonight at 9PM est on USA but while that is rapidly approaching it's fun to look back and ask some of the cast about their experiences for this season and what led to taking the roles in the first place.
touching the game hits home
I had a chance to screen a promotional version of "Touching the Game Alaska" and in the first few minutes you felt like this release was as American as baseball, apple pie, and hot dogs. The folks in Alaska love the game and the players who have played in the Alaska League and in the "Midnight Sun" game that is played without lights because the days last a lot longer during the Alaskan summers, always talk about their time there as a career highlight.
campbell likes his role on burn notice
I have seen Burn Notice’s future and I am here to tell you that I’m not giving away any secrets, nor will I spoil somebody’s night by telling you what’s in the first few episodes. What I am here to tell you is the show is taking a nice turn, a turn that will allow the shows producer Matt Nix to really develop the characters that we all love on the show.
anwar is heating up the small screen
Gabrielle Anwar has an impressive resume and her latest stop is the show "Burn Notice" on USA where she is playing a character named Fiona that is more than a little hot and more than a little dangerous.
chanel continues to branch out
Chanel Ryan is a model/actress who is working all the time. None of her projects are boring and she was nice enough to share a few of them with me.
an exclusive interview with tricia helfer
Carla is a hot temptress of a former boss to Michael and the two have a love-hate relationship due to the fact that she was the burner and Michael was the burnee. So now that the season finale of "Burn Notice" is upon us (USA 10p/9c) will the two finally end the craziness?
