Scoring Without the Ball
by Better Basketball’s Rick Torbett
Better Basketball recently released a very unique basketball instructional video, Scoring Without the Ball. This DVD is the company’s 7th, and it teaches players how to put themselves in a position to score when they’re on offense and don’t have the ball. This is a very under-taught skill, and most players are borderline clueless on what to do when they don’t have the ball. This video will change that for any player.
The DVD also features two bonus sections. The first is from 8-Time NBA All-Star Jason Kidd. Kidd, one of the best passers the sport has ever known, breaks down what he’s looking for his teammates to do on offense when he has the ball.
Then, Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman, perhaps the greatest female player to ever live, talks about attacking on a fast break from a lane, playing on the weakside, and controlling the space during a screen. The video also uses footage from men’s and women’s international pro ball to illustrate its techniques.
Better Basketball has gained a reputation for producing the sport’s best instructional videos. They have DVDs on basically all the skills that players need to develop an all-around game, including shooting and dribbling. Their videos feature extreme detail and a logical learning progression. The company is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and can be reached on the web at www.betterbasketball.com or by calling 1-800-BETTER-B.
