Touchback is out on DVD and this football/drama really tugs at your heart strings. It deals with a lot of today’s issues. Read what Brian Presley (Scott Murphy) had to say about this film in our exclusive interview http://www.sportsology.info/Interview-With-Touchback-Star-Brian-Presley. Football is the backdrop of this movie but this movie will bring you back to your high school days and how life was in small town Ohio.
Kurt Russell (Coach Hand) once again plays a great sports coach. He always has a great motivating scene or two and there were a few lines from this movie that stuck with me.
I hope you don't give up this easy in life because it's a helluva lot harder than football. This line gets you fired up and at that point in the movie you’re still not sure how it’s going to play out, which is a positive.
Melanie Lynskey (Murphy’s wife) played a great part. She played an all-american girl who wasn’t glamorous but was very “real”.
Christine Lahti, Murphy’s mother, turned in a solid effort. She really hit the mark with a few lines that got to this reviewer (right in the heart).
In the end the big championship game had some nice twists and turns and skillfull and authentic football action thanks to Presley's sports background. There are a lot of nice scenic shots that were appreciated. I think the hardcore sports fan will like this movie and I know it’s a good date night movie as well.
Writer/Director Don Handfield did a great job on this movie and the DVD extras.
