Jerry Sandusky will soon be a name that is heard for weeks and months across the country for some heinous reasons. If you haven’t heard why ready this column it covers everything and then some:

Penn State the school is losing football officials hourly it seems and yet I haven’t heard anything about an NCAA investigation. Why? They are quick to make a kid ineligible for trading tattoos for cash but yet they have been strangely silent throughout this news. I would think if nothing else, even though the police say it isn’t a “football” matter, those former employees who resigned today may have violated some sort of moral or ethics code? When does the NCAA decide that this school has a lot of problems besides what’s being brought to light and when do they look into the entire program with a fine tooth comb?
I have a hard time thinking that the “reputation” of this school isn’t going to be tarnished in some way and even though you can’t blame an entire university for the actions of a few employees a football team is comprised of sons of a lot of moms and dads out there who assume their kids are safe when they are there. I would also make the assumption, like a few parents did, that their little boys were safe while visiting the university but now we’re finding out that’s just not the case.
Whether it’s fair or not if I had a son or daughter and they told me that they wanted to attend Penn State, the outcome of this case would definitely play into my decision and I’m sure I’m not alone.
I think what we are finding out here is once again you can give people too much power and absolute power corrupts absolutely, that has happened before and it will happen again. Once again my main point here is Sandusky has had allegations surrounding him for a while and yet he was allowed to bring a young boy to a 2007 Penn State Football practice? Really? I understand he had a “golden parachute” that gave him full access to an office and many of the facilities on campus even after he retired but when was the appropriate time to reneg on that? I’d say that day in 2007 should never have happened and the university should have banned him from the campus way before that.
Read more about the case here from a buddy of mine:

I’m not a parent but I have some very close friends who have children and I’ve watched after them, at times, even if it were just a few minutes or a few hours like they were my own, the fact that this man has a family and children just makes my skin crawl and I will probably have trouble sleeping tonight just thinking about it.
