Voorhees - I covered Flyers prospect camp today and those guys worked hard. They were doing a lot of drills, offense, and defense, situational. They did a lot of skating. To me these three stood out today after taking into account that Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn have never looked bad in any session:
Michael Houser – G – 6-2, 190 – Played for London of the OHL the past few seasons. He has performed well in the regular season and playoffs for them. He’s fast up and down, as a lot of hybrid goalies are. He’s good on angles but his glove could be a bit faster. He could soon be the Flyers best young goalie in the system, not playing in the NHL.
Blake Kessel – D – 6-2, 210 – He was a free agent, a few hours ago, with a great story (that I will tell later in great detail). He has good offensive tools. He keeps the puck in the offensive zone well and he has an accurate shot. He’s a good skater who closes the gaps well.
Brendan Ranford –RW - 5-10, 182 – He skates well enough. He has a very quick shot and he is very slippery in the slot. He is a good teammate and has some good intangibles.
Look for some more insights in the coming days.
