1) Adam Larsson – 6-3, 200 - D – Edmonton Oilers - A very talented, smooth, two-way defenseman he's impossible to pass on since there is a shortage of them in the league. He plays against men in the Swedish Elite league and he was a +12 this season. Edmonton needs this more than they need another offensive player.
2) Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – 6-0, 164 - C – Colorado Avalanche - Already a six footer he can score from anywhere on the ice. Excellent stick handler. He averaged more than a point-per-game for Red Deer in the playoffs. Colorado needs offense in the worst way.
3) Gabriel Landeskog – 6-0, 207– LW – Florida Panthers – He had some injuries this season but this guy has toughness and a scoring touch. He punishes players in the corner to get the puck. He averaged more than a point-per-game in the playoffs for Kitchener. Will become the first CHLer from Sweden drafted in the first round. Florida needs a top offensive player and he is NHL ready.
4) Sean Couturier - 6-4, 197 -C – New Jersey Devils - Solid all-around player with very good speed. Big centers who can skate and score are a rare breed in the NHL and the Devils can use his services.
5) Dougie Hamilton – 6-6, 187-D- New York Islanders - A big blueliner who has crazy stick and puck control. He will be hard for teams to pass on. The Islanders need this kind of player.
Picks 6-10 will be released soon. I am currently interviewing players for my XM show, Hockey Prospect Radio and for features that will lead up to the draft where we will have a live radio show from Minneapolis, Minnesota June 24-25, at the 2011 NHL Draft.
